Wave Measurements With IMU, 3D Dynamics of Surf Zone Breaking Waves
Education Outreach
Educational Outreach
There are many ways for teachers and their students to get involved with the Global Waves Project. These opportunities include participation in field experiment wave data collection activities, such as keeping record of data collection events in an experiment log book, taking photographs, videotaping, helping to look for the WaveChecker in the surf zone, and helping set up at the beach site. Teachers and students are encouraged to actively participate in gaining more knowledge about waves at their local surf breaks and share their experiences through the Global Waves Project. We are developing programs to enrich K-16 hands-on science experiments and welcome suggestions from interested teachers and students!
Community Outreach
Community Outreach
There are many opportunities for community members to get involved with the Global Waves Project. Possible activities include helping set up at a surf break location for data collection, keeping record of data collection events in an experiment log book, taking photographs, videotaping, acting as a WaveChecker spotter, and advertising the project locally. You don't need to be a surfer or bodyboarder to participate! A goal of the project is to get coastal community members engaged in learning more about waves along their coastline and at local surf breaks. We are beginning to develop community outreach programs and welcome suggestions and support from community members!
